First of all we point out the following Welcome Document which is intended to be a handbook to help PhD students to keep track of the main duties and rules of their journey to become a CS PhD at UniPI. It contains (sketch of) rules and generic advice that we think are useful on what PhDs are usually expected to achieve by the end of the three years of the PhD course. This document has no official value and it is in no way a substitute of the official regulations. Anyway, we suggest our PhD students to read it carefully and use it as a high-level guide for their initial PhD period.

Missions

We suggest students to read carefully the Welcome document in the parts that refer to the Missions and Periods Abroad, and consult the Department Offices if doubts arise. In any case, students have to fill in and send to the PhD Coordinator and Enrico Carpentras the following documents:

  • In case of mission to a workshop/conference, the PhD students have to provide either the digital copy of the letter of acceptance of their paper or ask their supervisor to write an email In which there are indicated the dates/place of the travelling period and the motivation. Moreover, they have to fill in the document to get authorization of the mission and its expenses by the PhD coordinator. Please be careful in specifying which funds you will use for the reimbursement (10%, other funds, etc.), and please read carefully the explanation of the rules (ITA, ENG).
  • In case of a period abroad, the PhD students have to provide either the digital copy of the letter of invitation by the hosting University/Industry/Research Center or ask their supervisor to write an email In which there are indicated the dates/place where the students will spend their period abroad. Furthermore, students have to fill in the so called "Provvedimento di Urgenza" to be signed by the PhD coordinator with all the required information. Finally, if students have a PhD fellowship, then they can ask for the 50%-increase of it for the period abroad and thus they have to fill in the following authorization document to be signed by the PhD coordinator. Moreover, they have to fill in the document (ITA, ENG) to get authorization of the mission and its expenses by the PhD coordinator. Please be careful in specifying which funds you will use for the reimbursement (10%, other funds, etc.).

We invite the PhD students to read carefully also the information available on the UniPI site at the following page:

Please refer to Ramona Serafini (Administrative Unit) for information regarding the compilation of the documents and rules for missions about (any kinds of) missions.
